Not going to tell you anything.
Talk about people getting explosive!
It is MY OPINION that Channa thrive in as close to a biotope as possible in a home aquarium.
Keyword *OPINION.
Your fish, keep how you like.
But for someone to say I am "torturing" my fish by using substrate is a little stupid I think.
And I stick with what I said, the tank in the video I am talking about (which as it happens belongs to no-one on this thread) is not very nice for said fish at all.
4ft x 2ft x 2ft where I am from is too small for a Channa Marulioides.
Add to that the fact that it is an empty glass box, not much for the fish is it!
Yes sure we could all be guilty by taking a fish from the wild into a home aquarium, but the least we could do is provide SOME space and a little bit of natural environment?
A fellow member of the forum that I mod at (snakeheads.co.uk) is as far as I know the only person to breed Marulioides in home aquaria.
Something tells me that his fish must have been comfortable enough to breed in their environment.
His environment is a larger tank with heavy foliage and substrate.
Sure, we don't all want to breed, but it shows their comfort?
