I'm just saying that there is no evidence that keeping a Dovii in a 180 is detremental or cruel to the fish as long as water conditions are good.
As I have said before, it is my belief that most people keeping Dovii in 180's allow water conditions to deteriorate, which causes the notion that "Dovii shouldn't be in 180's." Keeping one in a 180 required frequent large water changes, which most people won't do. But if the water conditions are kept in check, I fully believe that a single male Dovii is fine in a 180.

There are not many of the 24" monsters as I have said because they are kept in 6'X24", 8'x30" and what not. So the average is based on these tank sizes? Also from what I gather the average many talk about are from those on this site......every person that has a 24" Dovii does not post here.
The average size of Dovii kept in large tanks on this site are 24". The average size of Dovii on this site are 17" in 30" wide tanks.........we all know Mel's 24"+ is in a 600, cchhcc is in a 1000 gal and on its way to 24". The largest I have seen in person was 24" plus easy and thick 4"+.
If 99% will be fine in a 180 where are the 10 yr old + monsters at that are kept in 180s? More like 99% are kept in 180 gals.
You don't always need statistics to have something be true.
Not trying to pile on just my 2 cents.
Also if it was about 99%....why does the 1% of members on this site that house these monsters in large tanks have 1% of the larger specimens. A 24" Umbee and a 24" Dovii......is this a anomaly?
what sized tank do you have your dovii pair in?
