180 Big enough or not ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
lets not forget these fish are staples of many peoples diets in the areas they come from. How many people keep a 180 for 10 plus years? Americans are a mobile society that move from sea to shinning sea regularly. 180 would be fine for a long time, but yes you would definetly PREFER something bigger eventually.

They're going to love that tank man.

he's only in a 100 gal right now. He'll be in the 240 in about a month or two. and I'm never doing a glass tank that big again unless I've got an engine hoist. I think I threw out my back lifting one half of that thing by myself.

And he's completely out of his shy stage now. He patrols the tank all the time.

And I know what you mean. I'm glad I'm not in the position of having to keep the same tank forever. If he ever gets too much for the 240, I'll probably do an 8x4 in my lobby and breed him.

They are in a 180 for another few months, they are 2 yrs old, male is 14" and the female is 8" or so., here is a link to there new tank http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?416138-New-Dovii-tank&highlight=...... why would you qoute my response to this thread with that question?

Also I bought the male at 1/4" or so...still a fry.

I guess I took it the wrong way.......thanks for the complements buddy.

jeeze.... for some reason I just read this whole thread. This site just has to many people to far to one side... and to many to far on the other side.... just meet in the middle... If you guys think a single 14" fish wont be ok in a 24" wide tank I think your crazyy.... but I think a 20" fish in a 24" wide tank is a little crazy too a very fine line which you guys turn into a HUGE debate. And not only that your forgetting personality of fish as well... I have never kept a dovi but I am sure they are the same as everyother fish.... some are docile some more active.

BTW - NW that fish in your avatar is amazing.
