Not saying you don't have money but look around the forum and all you see is what's a fair price for this or that fish

I even see people saying don't buy a black aro at $150 as its to much
If they wanted a certain fish then the price shouldn't matter even if the fish is $50 over priced

You may get a few people buying a green at $200 or a rtg at $400 but the fish you all drool over cost a lot more and I just can't see if the ban was lifted that everyone in the US will go out and spend $2k on a fish
Even for someone who's rich $2k is a lot of money for a fish or every ray keeper would have tanks full of the highest grade BD

Asian aros have been in the UK for years and hardly anyone is willing to pay $2k on a aro with the exception with people from Asia

Most people start with green and stop there others see green is near as aggressive as a jar and sell thinking all Asian aros have the same temperament

The you get people who enter with a rtg nearly all of them up grade to a super red or xback then they are hooked

I could probably tell you every person in the UK who would be interested in buying my aro if I was to sell

You get a high rise in sales when it's Chinese new year

Hardly anyone imports Asian aros into the uk now as there is no markets for them

LFS have never shocked Asia aros as buy the time they add the mark up they are super expensive and start in the shop for months as you don't get a man buying a guppy suddenly think I want to spend $2k on a aro

+1!!

i would love to buy an AA but if someone presented me with one for 2k$ today i dont know if i can pull the trigger. just being honest.

the farms have the big market to fill in china now and trust me that market is much bigger than it would ever be in the US

CHINA = NEW BIG MONEY

You jumped all over the place with your different points in one post... But I'm quoting ONE in red above. There are always asian aro's available in the US black market (not counting many already made it home) currently and this is not going to stop anytime soon. That is telling you enough about the UK and US markets for these fish, don't you think?

Well if ppl in the US are willing to pay the price and u say there's already a lot of Black market AA's out there then why complain its illegal there? Legal or illegal should not matter if ppl say price isn't an issue... At least they're there to buy.

You apparently will never get this because you live in Canada. I was not only talking about price but also about the legality of owning the fish. Get it? Imagine yourself owning these fish and you can't even talk about them. About pricing, it's simply about the void of paying extra premium of the smuggling fee. I have the money but would never attempt to break the laws for only the fish.

How about some average grade aro's at 1/3 of that price when it is legal to own one? The fish doesn't have to be perfect in every tiny details, or at T1's level of preference, to be a wonderful arowana :)

Yes of coz i get it that it is illegal to own one but I'm pretty sure not all fish collectors come on these forums to show off their fish. I know tons of ppl who are into this hobby that don't come on forums. If I lived in the US and I really wanted a Asian Aro I myself would pay the price and take that risk and could care less to show it off. It would be for my own pleasure not for others. I'm sure there are many out there that already have one. Not encouraging ppl to do so jmo.

Id be satisfied with a green or average rtg if they were legal

and how did i know someone would say this

then why get a green when you could have a rtg for a few hundred more

a green or a banjar is not much better than a jar and they are not the types people say i wish we could get them in the US for

a green and a banjar have boring colour if your going to have a aro then it may as well have colour

I don't think you do. Not everyone is like you on this level of risk taking. There are many arrests over the years for illegally owning aro's. Again, I will NEVER break the law for owning aro's no matter how much I love them. I am a mature man with a mountain of responsibility on my shoulder. About keeping your fish secret, it may work only for you. We have 3-4 birthday parties/year when we have 10-20 friends coming over, try to keep that a secret. And we're not going to change our lifestyle for keeping the fish.

I'm using your famous analogy here T1: if I say I like my car white, you will insist that I like it better in black. Just like your taking the blue pills at your age is not normal, and you made it sound like it's a good thing ;) Oh, what happened to that weird thread anyway?
