Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This probally happens countless times a day but I was at the LFS the other day looking around at all the tanks. In walks this young couple and as there getting ready to pick out some saltwater fish the owner asks them what kind of set-up they have. They answer "it's a bowl about this big" I blurted out "oh boy" and sighed before I could restrain myself.

Thank god the owner talked them into some gold fish instead of the mandrin's, tangs and clowns they wanted.

:)
Goldfish get way to big for a fish bowl. One comet needs a 50-70 gallon aquarium. Most fancy's require 30 gallons for one and 10 gallons for each additional one.

I screw with petsmart people... I ask them if they had any "blue waffles" instead of purple, and omg they just go on aand on about how purple is just betterlll

Oh my god. I just threw up in my mouth. (Cant say I havent done this though  I used to prank call a lot of pet stores)

Thanks for the psychological analysis. Is that your full time job or just another hobby? What a clown... :)

Back to the subject

Well this is the closest thing I have

One time i was at my LFS and a little kid was asking all the fish names when I was picking out a fish. i told him all the names of the fish he pointed at. Hid dad seemed like a serious fish keeper. he said that he kept FMs and convicts together I said that that must've been hard to do because aggression and that it would have had to be a large tank. He said it was 120 gallons. My best story I have well it is not even really funny.

Wait I just remembered my favorite LFS story!!!! The person at petsmart said that she had a 20 inch cichlid. right after she said that I asked if it was an umbee a dovii or a peacock bass. She said that she did not now those aquarium terms. Then she said that it was a Texas cichlid and it was in a 55 gallon aquarium with 3 silver dollars. The person at petsmart made me think she was a :spam:!!!! She said that it was thriving I thought oh a 20 inch Texas cichlid thriving in a 55 gallon aquarium with 3 silver dollars!!!! there had to be something untrue about this. Even if it was 20 inches it would not thrive in a 55 gallon aquarium. if it was smaller than that she would of had to lied about it's size so there is something wrong here.

I prefer to practice self control by not overstocking my tanks. I am completely happy to help new hobbyists, but when they turn around a week later and give advice to other new people on the forum that don't know who is behind the computer screen, it really just hurts the forum.

At petco I go to go buy my first original Oscar which I returned because he had swim bladder When I got him and so I'm waiting to get the fish and the guy who was in line before starts picking all these different fish and in the end he had like 30 fish total and so he picks all different highly aggressive tankmates with all these little small fish and so after the petco guy goes how big is your tank because you will need like a 1000 gallon tank for all these he responds I have a really big tank already its 30 gallons. I started cracking up along with the petco guy and the buyer didn't see any problems. He was like what is so funny? I was laughing so hard! Then the petco guy proceeds to take out all the cichlids and aggressive fish put them back in the tank and gives the guy like 6 glo fish and that's it! Funniest day of my life. And another time at a lfs some kid walks in with like $150 (probably birthday money) and he just starts buying every single betta male. And I go to him like "are these gonna be feeders?" he goes "no I'm gonna feed them alot make them big then try to get them to fight and sell them as fighters." what he didn't understand is online all those "fighter bettas" are these huge short finned wild bettas. It was hilarious and he bought like 5 10 gallon tanks to put all the little containers in he bought them in. He was walking out with like 30 male bettas all in the containers in 10 gallon tanks! I was like omg then I try to explain to the guy what he was doing and he goes "I can care less all these stupid little kids spending their money just helps me pay bills" lmfao I still laugh to this day
