Me talking to the owner of the lfs i go to.

Me:Is it possible for me to order a short or long nose gar if i pay before hand?
Lfs:We have some in stock!
Me: (excited) oh really! lets see.
Lfs: Here you go.

He showed me the "Rocket Gar"

When I worked in a pet store in NC we had a guy come in trying to get store credit for a couple fish. He brought a ID shark in a ice container ( the ones you find in your freezer to hold the ice) with the net stuck around his body and stuck around the top of the spine on fin. He wanted like $100 for it. It was even bleeding and had cloudy eyes. He said he bought it from petsmart and has been in a 20g since.

Another guy brought in a 12 inch oscar, 10 inch clown loach and a 12 inch common pleco. Said he bought all three at petsmart and has been in a 20g since. Said he had to get rid of them because they started to fight...

people are unreal...

i over heard a customer today in the plant section ask if this particular one only grew under artificial light or if it could grow under sunlight as well

A coworker of mine told me about a customer who just avoided every question possible. He at one point asked what size is the tank and what's in it and the response was "well the tank's in the living room." This answer came up several more times to several different questions in the conversation

I screw with petsmart people... I ask them if they had any "blue waffles" instead of purple, and omg they just go on aand on about how purple is just betterlll

if you look long enough and hard enough, you can find some source that will support even the most ridiculous notions ... like that an Oscar will be okay in a 30G tank ...

Believe Petsmart still has this as a recommended minimum tank size. Went looking at fish while picking up dog food and almost took a picture of the description for an avatar. Just might have to do that now.

speeking of lfs stories i went to one in my town called aqualand pets plus and i went with my mom. last time i went there i bought an rtc because these guys have some really nice fish and the staff is educated.well today instead of the normal owner there the co owner was and man he was nasty. we was wearing hunting style shirt and pants a camo hat and his hair was down his back in a long braid to his waist. the thing that suprised me most was when he opened his mouth and i saw all his teeth where black AND then he pulled out a bottle of jose quervo from his back pocket and took a HUGE swigg of it

Sorry for quoting something a year ago but I went there a while back and I have never been so aghast as when I saw the tanks in Aqualand. I've seen canals with less algae as some of those tanks, and I've seen grocery stores with less dead fish. I swore I'd never go back after that.
