Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i figured that people that worked there should have some type of knowledge about the fish. I'm sure as a cashier he has rang people up for CL's before lol

You would think that's the case, but when you purchase a fish at Petsmart, they put a barcode number on the bag and when you take it to the cashier, they just type the number in and it rings. On the reciet, it lists what kind of fish it is. But the receit is more for the customer, then the cashier. They usually don't even look at them.

not really an LFS story, but a great story none the less. a friend of mine works at a local CVS as a cashier. One day, a woman came in and bought about $25 worth of stuff, and then handed my friend enough coupons to get her bill down to 54 cents. finally, she gave him one last coupon. he looked at it, then looked at the customer, looked at it again, and told her "im sorry maam, i cant accept this coupon" the customer then told him that he should honor coupons, blah blah blah, they accepted it last time. he then tells her, "maam, this is CVS. there is no way we have ever accepted this coupon, it says that it is good for a free oil change at jiffy lube."

its amazing what people will try when they want to save money.

i work at a bowling alley and i have people come in with coupons from everywhere under the sun trying to get free games.

This one from the other day.
Went to a purely saltwater LFS and we asked if they had a marine betta.

One of the employees then lectured us on how marine bettas are brackish/freshwater.

I was like, MARINE bettas? What?

In fairness, just about everything with "Freshwater" in the common name is brackish so it isn't a stretch to not trust "Marine" in the name.
Granted Marine Bettas are pretty common so the employee should have known.

A fun way to test SW LFS employees is to ask for 'Saltwater Mollies'. If they try to correct you about freshwater fish, move on to a new employee. :evil_lol:

i only have one short story... i could make it long but you probably dont want to read all that. so any way i was in petco and i met this the girl about 17-20 who had a ten gallon with 2 gold fish in it. ( was 3 but you will understand soon y one died)
Anyway she is there looking for a new filter for her ten gallon. i told her i like the AC and recomend a AC30 b/c goldfish are kinda messy. none the less she bought a ten dollar less
submersible wisper one.
u ased her a few common question

me: when did you set up your tank?

her:about 3 weeks ago

me:how many fish do you have?

her: 2, had 3 but one died already

me:do you know about the nitrogen cycle?

her: blank stare..no ?

after about ten mins trying to explain it to her we get to this question...

me what do you do when you clean the tank

o i put the fish in bowl and cleann the hole tank then fill it back up.(come to find out she washes her gavel off to). :wall:

Hey hey, don't make fun! Thants what I used to do it!

a customer asked me if our variatus were breeding. I looked up at them. there was only one in the tank at the surface. she was referring to its reflection that was directly above it. facepalm.
