Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

Wait I just remembered my favorite LFS story!!!! The person at petsmart said that she had a 20 inch cichlid. right after she said that I asked if it was an umbee a dovii or a peacock bass. She said that she did not now those aquarium terms. Then she said that it was a Texas cichlid and it was in a 55 gallon aquarium with 3 silver dollars. The person at petsmart made me think she was a :spam:!!!! She said that it was thriving I thought oh a 20 inch Texas cichlid thriving in a 55 gallon aquarium with 3 silver dollars!!!! there had to be something untrue about this. Even if it was 20 inches it would not thrive in a 55 gallon aquarium. if it was smaller than that she would of had to lied about it's size so there is something wrong here.

are you sure it wasn't 20 cm, aka 8 inches. most non americans I know of use centimetres over inches, I had to wean myself onto inches for this site lol

I prefer to practice self control by not overstocking my tanks. I am completely happy to help new hobbyists, but when they turn around a week later and give advice to other new people on the forum that don't know who is behind the computer screen, it really just hurts the forum.

I don't overstock my aquariums anymore.

I was on youtube and some guy there kept showing off his 'dwarf' bala shark. It was in a 2 gallon bowl with a heater and filter. I feel so sorry for that fish. I wonder what happened its been 2 years.
On Friday I was at my lfs and they had a baby Florida Gar in a 20 gallon. A mom had her 6 year old child there and she was asking about keeping one in her son's 5 gallon tank. I was ready to step in but worried they would ask me to leave and I'm 14 so. I had urgent supplies I needed. I feel SO bad for these fishes.:(

Just talk to her right before she leaves and convince her to return the fish.

Petco, or Petsmart could care less about what size tank I have, so they have no right to be asking me.. That's why I tell them big enough.

I have tanks from 5gallons to 300 gallons. And I don't get fish that I can't house full grown to begin with.

Yeah ok. BUT your profile says you have a 6,000 gallon koi tank. I'm guessing that's not true? And 1,600 gallon quarantine is much bigger than 300 gallons aswell. *suspicious*
PS: IM NOT FLAMING IM CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT HIS RESPONSE IS GONNA BE!! Don't take this the wrong way though.
And from the 'sound'(yes I know its text) of your condescending tone its like you came from a royal heirarchy and you think your better than everyone.
So what's going on here?

A few of the recent posts reminded me of this one.

Short but Scary:

Stopped into a local Petco or Petsmart, I don't remember which. While poking around I saw that they had a few RTC's for sale, healthy looking & decently priced. However as I am NOT crazy and don't have a tank bigger than 200g I wasn't interested.

The little "tag" in from of the tank had the potential adult size listed more or less accurately at 5'2". The place was empty so I struck up a conversation with a friendly staffer. When I asked her how many RTC's they sell given their size requirements she replied: "Its not a problem, they only get to be about 5.2 inches long."

Although I can be a snarky B@stard just like anyone else I gently and indirectly corrected her in the hopes those fish actually go to people who can handle them.
