I hope so. They are starting to put on some size. I'll post a new video ASAP.
Humm kinda dead over here for a while,

ahh my thread also been busy but got some sheetrock up today with my build I am thinking 2 weeks Ill have water in the my tank. Have you moved any more fish into your large tank yet? Bet now with summer approaching its going to make the heating far better, are you worried at all that it might get too warm for the tank and hit 87+, have you figured out the key to keeping the tank bottom cleaner? Got a Mag 950(950gph) for 30.00

the other day and I am going to install it at the bottom of my tank to push waste to the top of the tank and to the over flows. My 125 I have now I do that and it seems to keep the sand clean. I am thinking if I do the same with the large tank and with some stingrays to mix up the bottom I will be able to keep it clean and not have to do too much, I like sand too much and don't want to have bottom drains to suck it all down the drains. If i really hate it later I guess I will drain it and drill it but for now I am going to buy allot of sand and just go for it. This weekend going south and I am going to look for wood that might work in the tanks I have, I hope I can find something but who knows. Really hard wood is not the most common here. Always happy to see you around.
Why are you looking at classified ads for big tanks when you haven't even set up your 450G? I'm just teasing man, I do the same thing and there's no way I am getting another big tank. Looking forward to seeing that 600G setup. Sounds nice! Are you going to have to buff scratches out of that monster tank too? Hope not!
I moved all the loaches, the Texas, the Oscar and the Red Texas into the big tank. The Red Texas I got from Petsmart was a maniac. He was aggressive in the quarantine tank, but he turned into a sociopath in the big tank. I decided he had to go...it took me 2 hours to catch him. I'm still vacumming the gravel every 2 weeks, but it's getting old. I can definitely see the appeal in bare bottom tanks...but I dunno, they are soooo ugly! But anyways, did you find any good driftwood pieces? Mine is still leaching tannins, although not as much. I'm hoping it clears up entirely over the next few weeks/months...I'm not a fan of the tinged blackwater look.
In regards to the temp, we had a mini heat wave which I loved. My heaters were barely on at all. I am treating the big tank for Ich again because somehow (even with a 3 week quarantine at 82F in the 70G, the additions to the main tank showed signs of Ich the day after I put them in). I was kicking myself for not QTing for a full month. Not sure how they managed to show no signs until I moved them, but oh well, such is life. It's almost all gone again....86F and 1Tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons works like a charm. In case anyone has to treat a large tank, you can buy a 50lbs bag of salt at Leslie's Pool Supply for $8. In regards to the tank overheating, I am going to keep some frozen 2 liter bottles just in case things get out of hand, but last summer the hottest the water got for a week or so was 86F. Nights out here are typically pretty cool, so I'll keep the windows open to let all the heat out/cool air in. If push comes to shove, I have an A/C unit in the room.
I'm currently Quarantining 8- 2" Arulius Barbs, 1 awesome looking 3" Green Terror (he's definitely a male) and a little 2" Jack Dempsey. They will be added to the big tank in 1 month.
So I have read this thing over and over and love looking at your setup, Nice to see every part and step. Quick question does your water return go down into the water line a little in the tank or does it splash a little into the tank?? Splash = more aeration kinda seems like a good way to add easy aeration but also to make noise with the tank also.
The bulkhead returns actually rest right on the waters surface so it doesn't splash water or bubbles down into the tank. It's perfect so that when the power goes out, the water level only drops to the point where my overflow teeth begin (draining about 30 gallons into the sump). In other words, I don't have to worry about the back siphon from the returns since they are so high up. When I start the pump up, I get some bubbles, but they get purged out of the pipe pretty quickly.
Wow... Jealous.. Subscribe, I want to see this thing stocked with fish.
