Really i didnt know this.... But i am 100% sure my tank cycled... Even after a wc i should have nitrates????.. I thought wc takes out nitrates.... I would think by doing a water change every other day would keep my nitrates at 0..... This is new to me now u got me worried that my tank didn't cycle right.... But there is no way i know its cycled.... I m worried now?!?!?!

You are thinking of NiRITES. That should be zero along with ammonia.

Most tap water has a small amount of nitrate in it, so even with a 100% water change you'd expect some nitrates. You should always run tests on your tap water initially so you have a baseline.

It's difficult to tell with just a picture, but I know when I do water changes my tank can look a bit cloudy from tons of micro bubbles that my filter outlets spray out around the tank for about a day, then back to crystal clear the next day.

There's no way this tank is cycled if the test results are correct. Water changes do reduce NO3, but to get a reading of 0 ppm on a cycled tank that is stocked like that, you would have to do several consecutive 80%+ water changes.

Maybe the dechlorinator is interfering with the test?

Ok i just retested my nitrates because i was worried that my tank wasn't cycled properly... Might have another problem now my nitrates are at 40ppm is this too high?????
(i wasnt shaking the drops enough to get the right results..... Thats crazy haha.... Thanks for making me do it right)

The dechlorinator may have messed up your previous reading. 40ppm isn't too bad for the fish you're keeping, although I would try to keep it around 20-30ppm.
