IMO you have better chances to rediscovered a tiger wolf in mainland than Tasmania.

Tasmania has a lot more hiding oppurtunities, had a very dense thylacine population and there are supposed sightings there all the time. Mainland australia doesn't fit these requirements.

I agree 100%. Tasmania is mostly unpopulated with dense forest and mountains. And those thylacine sightings are not just reported from freaks but also from park rangers

the biggest prey i've seen ferrets attack are groundhogs, which are about the size of the ferret. cows are fivefold larger then most predators aside from bears and are much more capable of defending themselves. Ferrets kill so many because they have a massive metabolism and their prey's only real defense is hiding in burrows, so they need much more food then a big cat. big cats are more then content with a single kill and using it until it is clean

You never saw a ferret hunt right? They fall into a kill mode and kill evrything till there is silence. Cats do the same.
Yes ferret and other animals often kill multiple animals...when the victims are corraled or penned up. However, very few animals that will kill large cattle in a single night and I am assuming that these cattle were killed out in Outback and not penned up. Lions and tigers often goes on a killing splee when the victims have no escape and it usually take a place in a corral/pen. Also an adult cow isn't easy prey for a leopard.

No, you should let a ferret in a chicken cage. They kill till there is no movement anymore. Thats their instinct. They eat maybe one and leth dozens back to rot.

only one cow was dead and the others all wounded. And from what i saw, they were in a pen.

Maybe but most areas in mainland are unpopulated too and they do great job to hide pygmy hippo and giraffes.

Yes, big areas of mainland are unpopulated, because the nature in these dry areas can't support a population of such a big carnivore as humans, let alone thylacines or even thylacoleo.

Where I say unpopulated areas in desert? There are plenty of areas that is capable to support herbivores (and these same areas that hid pygmy hippo and giraffes). These areas were huge compared to a small island and it makes lot of sense to hide an uncommon animal there than an island.
