Thylacoleo carnifex

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
nice eagle, but why would it attack cows. they are no danger for it amd way out of league to be food.

australia is mostly a dry country where food is scarce, and these things are as big as bald eagles if not bigger and require a substantial amount of food. if they are unable to capture easier prey any predator will begin going after whatever is still around, and the cattle are around all the time given what farmers do to manage them. also cows are comapratively less able to fight back since they cannot kick as fast or high as kangaroos. relatively less defended larger prey is a dinner bell for predators

the komodo drahon is not just related to megalania, it is believed to be megalania. a dwarved island population.

they have done DNA tests using megalania bones. the lace monitor has DNA closer to Megalania then the Komodo dragon. If we use the human genome example lace monitors would be roughly bonobo chimps while komodos would be ourangutan if we make megalania the human in this case

could you show me that particular study? Because the last study i did read about that, said that the komodo dragon is an island population of megalania. Of course it could went furter away from the main genetic code cause of isolation.

Golden eagles are known to attacked and killed cattle from 500lbs calves to adult cows (through large bulls are out of their reach). Of course that is uncommon occurance.

However I doubt that Thylacoleo is still alive today.

it was on a documentary about megalania called mega beasts

the okapi is 8 times heavier and went unseen for hundreds of years.

In the most dense jungle that we have on earth, in a hilly region which was heavily fought over first by africans against europeans and then rebels against the armys of the states there. The region is infested by deathtraps and land mines. Also the okapi eats leaves and grass, not other mammals.
Try finding a rare animal under such circumstances ;)
