It was probably a big cat, not Thylacoleo. I believe there was a zoo out in Outback in the past where few animals escaped from the zoo. Giraffe, pygmy hippo, black leopards and zebras were reported in Outback.

More specifically, leopard-style instead of cats in general since this Thylacoleo was built for aboeral life. That said, Thylacoleo have completely different killing methods from the felines. Also why there are lack of photos of killed livestock?
