For cichlid breeding there are such things as tank dividers etc to mediate such risk. As for the silver arrow and tiger barbs etc, I have seen gold fish and rtc together for a long time as well, it does not mean that is a good idea or something people should test and see if it'll work for them.

And what is your point? I've seen wacky combos countless times and it worked for the owners.

As for tank dividers...sometimes a fish can get around a divider and kill their mate or their tankmate...but you took a risk to keep two fish together in same tank even if it has a divider in it.

But hey it's not your fish.

The point is why do we give advice and have a forum at all? I mean everyone can discover for themselves oscars and neon tetras won't work out. I said in the thread that having a bunch of apex predators in a tank is asking for problems. Op thought Apex predators are not territorial if there were ample food..that idea is wrong.
(just ask any dovii keepers about that).

For that I became a kid with goldfish and love to put 'everyone' down. ;)

Anyway, you are right. They are his fish. Be it GATF killing each other or bichirs on the floor, he is a great experimenter...Happy now? ;)

some people should learn to experience things out and not believe what they read online. just cuz it didnt work for them doesnt mean it wont work for u. sure sometimes it might be a expensive lesson. but u'll never know till you try it out. i personally take everything i read online with a grain of salt and like to experience it myself. i always like to do the impossible that people fail to achieve.

I'm confused, too many 'expensive lesson' I'm reading.
So we all see fish as money now ?
I thought the point was to keep the fish alive because its a living thing ?
Just kind of baffles me how some people view this as an expense rather than the death of a living thing.

Like nikond70s said, some people should learn to experience things out. That's when I learned out that one of my bullheads do not eat live fish and I was able to keep smaller fishes with him despite of him being 10".

I can't speak for anyone else in this thread, But I admire Your work. You are one of My favorite Posters, Someone who is not afraid to post Successes as well As failures.

I'm learning from You. Pardon me for being the new Kid on the block, But I aint never heard of some of these other Posters in this thread.

Keep doing what You're doing,
Whether You succeed or fail,
Remember the Haters are pursuing.

thanks, i am not afraid to say what i have failed at and what has worked. i have had too many aros get killed while going for a community of them. some people have it happen without effort. then the second i get that dream it gets poisoned away to only have some jackoff try to though it in my face as a failure on my tanks. i'll keep posting my errors and successes as i am not afraid of the stupid people that can't seem to respect some one that goes against the flow and tries for the stars. hell we wouldn't even know what space or the stars would be like if no one took risks.

Ignore all bull man. There are too many people scared to try new things. How else is the hobby supposed to progress. People not scared to take risks are what helps the hobby become better and helps us all better understand the behavior of our fish. In my time ive kept a few tanks setups that should by all means not have worked but did and other that should have and turned out in disaster. Just unfortunate that with fish like tigers when things go south they go south fast. All of us should be trying to help progress the hobby not down someone when they have a failed attempt at somthing. How many of us have never had a failed at a setup? BTW op how are they rest doing? I really want to see how this turns out.

the other 2 tigerfish are doing well. i have not divided them and they have not changed much. just some extra charges without contact. they have not touched my small silver aro or my rope fish. i will be selling one of the tigers though. i know it will fail again with only 2 fish.

Lol and our conversation was going so nicely, and at one point you even agreed with some of my points ;)

******* or not, the fact is the proof was in the pudding. A good record of fish keeping should be a long lived stable community and not a this sounded cool but darn it didn't work one.

how is having fish for over 3yrs and they have never had problems? or how about some of my 6 yr old fish? or how about the fish i have raised since they were a fry and still have them growing and healthy? just because this failed doesn't mean jack **** about anything. you really need to disappear.

i shoot for that level every day you cant trust anything on any media or online it is all just mainly kids trying to act tough because they know nothing can happen to them from behind their keyboard.99% of the people that run their mouths wouldn't even dare open them in front of me in person.

I'm confused, too many 'expensive lesson' I'm reading.

the expense is in both aspects as the fish are not cheap and life is the greatest cost of all!

After reading 9 pages of this all I want to say is sorry for your loss sbuse, but I do give you a thumbs up for trying, no one knows if it will work or not, most times its down to the individual fish, if it did work then theres something new for everyone, at the end of the day its your fish so "F" what everyone else says.

I'm sorry for your loss bro and I feel your pain. Today I woke up to find my VATF missing the back third of his body and my GATF looking fat and happy. It worked well for a few weeks then it stopped working, in spectacular fashion I might add. I'm considering rehoming my tarpon, aro, cuda and scomb because the GATF is starting to really develop an attitude. It is what it is. At least he completely ignores all my bottom feeders. For now. lol

Edit- I know what you mean about punkass kids too. LOL

Indeed, do what you want and F the fish ;)
