My 75G is finally done!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's a very nice looking stand. Do you have a build thread on that?

Here is the build article My dad and I followed...
http://www.arbreptiles.com/cages/75g_stand/index.shtml

His measurements were slightly off to what I wanted so we changed things up a bit, but for the most part we followed these plans to get my stand built. I think I mentioned in my original post but don't remember, but in total it cost about $80 to get this stand built. The cheapest one at my LFS is $160 and is IMHO garbage.

UPDATE: Its been 2 weeks since my tank has been filled up and begun its fishless cycle. Exactly 1 week ago from this exact time I started getting a Nitrite reading. 1 day later. ( the 21st) My Nitrites were showing 5.0ppm+ (maxed out on my chart) So now it was been 6 days since my Nitrites was peaked and It is still peaked at 5.0+ :/ grrrrrrrr. My ammonia is still under control. Every morning I put a little ammonia in and it shows Zero by morning. My Nitrates havent changed much over the past 6 days at all. Staying around 5ppm-10pmm, which is telling me that there is no bacteria killing the nitrites yet... :/ bummer. How long do you think the nitrites will peak before it starts coming down?

Lol I told you it was a grueling process. Nitrites take the longest by the far. It can happens tonight, tomorrow or another week. Well worth it in the end, just tough it out lol.

ya ya ya, haha. I was hoping I coulda proved you wrong but I guess not, ha. When it does happen, does it really happen overnight? Or will it go down slowly over a few days?

UPDATE: 16 days in... Still not much as changed. Still adding a tiny amount of ammonia every morning and still showing the same test results every day. It almost seems as though the cycle has stalled to a complete stop...
Here's a water test pic from just now. The same results I've been getting for nearly a week now.

That's how it is. The fact that you're starting to show nitrates is a good thing. If you want to try to speed things up a little, I've had good results with Tetra safestart. It's not an "instant cycle" like they claim but it helped me get through the nitrite cycle a little quicker.
