  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
they're not pretty but XXL agricultural stock tanks make great grow out tanks. cheap too.
some are even big enough to house a breeding pair.
just FYI.

most fish breed after certain conditions, the common things are

1) abandunce of food
2) water temperature change
3) certain minerals / chemicals in the water that are triggered by seasons

i think you would need a 5000 litre tank. put 10 aros in there, and see who pairs up, take out the rest and see what happens.
i guess, if it was me, i would also cover the tank up, so they cant see you and be distracted.
fee dlots, good water.
then heat up the water to quite warm maybe, then cool it down to 26 and slowly heat it up to 28 again to simulate the seasons?

who knows.

hey where would you get one of these do you know any links

if you have the money to breed them then a blood test is the easiest way to sex them!

I watch an asain aro documentary a while ago about breeder ponds in some Asain country like Malaysia or something. It takes 4 million dollars to start! lol but thats a business.

maybe if i knew your location rather than putting something silly like a pond then i would be able to know if you can have asian aros or not

anyway asian aros have never been bred outside of asia as far as i now

the best way to try to bred aros is get min 6 wait 3-5 years and hope 2 pair off so yes your tan is to small for 6

i have a pair of asianreds coming 5-6 september and they are 5 years old and 25inch they will be going in my 8x6 and im starting to thin that will be to small so you dont need a pond but a very big tank

good luck

I dont believe anyone has tried, its too hard, too cold anywhere else.
i dont see why it cannot be done though.
salmon was quite exclusive at one stage then it spread quite a bit.
maybe this would one day be the same?
but in saying that, if it did, then it would probably destroy the industry.

maybe the industry isnt big enough to breed out of asia.

the reasoni dont think it has been done outside asia is like i stated you need to state with 6 or more and hope they pair up this takes a lot of money and tank space

we will see
