Do people hunt for their dogs? There's a difference between pets and fish in the wild.

No dog was automatically domesticated in any way. All dog were always for food. Same as fish guy. Think of another way to express your point guy. Same as monkeys....food or pet, chickens, goats, wild boar.....and so on. Apples to androids phone.

Awesome, but thanks for just proving my point. We (at least in first world countries) don't eat our dogs, because they are our PETS. There's a severe difference between a pet and a wild/feral dog. Just like there is a difference in pet fish and wild fish. I wouldn't do this with my pet fish (just like not hunting for my dog). I feel as though some members don't see their fish as pets, but more as items...

If someone tried doing this in my tank id freak. Catching Fish in massive lakes and rivers is not the same as in ur 55 gallon. Wild fish generally live in optimum conditions have a vast amount of room to run n a fighting chance to get off. An aquarium fish is a pet n most pets dont do well with stress it would probably kill them eventually. Dont get me wrong it does look fun but I myself would Mich rather catch a twenty pounds carp then a 2oz golden sevrum

And thanks for proving my point. You have subjectively (that means according to your own personal ideas) placed a higher value on your "pets" than on "wild animals". In some cultures "pets" are just animals you raise in your home to feed your family. Other cultures (ie vegans) don't want to "harm" any animal, pet or wild. I consider either of those two options less hypocritical than the culture that says; its ok to hurt these wild animals but not those pet animals, cause I "like" those... But hey, I'm a hypocrite cause that's how I think. I'm just pointing out that you are too...

LOOOOL, yeah if you call: living in constant fear of predation, having to struggle for every meal, and being bombarded with parasites; "optimum conditions"...

It's not like I find it fun to kill any fish or animal because it's wild, I usually use barbless hooks and take care to catch and release. I just think that once you bring a fish or any animal into your care, stressing it out for cheap entertainment is pretty damn stupid.

Call me a hypocrite all you want, I just wouldn't do this with my pet fish because I like to keep them as healthy as possible.

Madmaxx how can u say that there not optimum conditions if that is where the fish came from. I see ur point about predators and parasites but surely the best place for any wild fish or animal is in the wild.

hypocrite. an animal is an animal regardless of if it lives under human care or without interference. not like your domesticated animal asked you to domesticate it
