Ernie, give it up. Jellybeans are NOT hybrids. They are shortbody or balloon belly convicts.

Even if your marble is not "great" - that won't mean his babies will be the same. All that matters is that he has the marble gene.

A normal X pink will not produce marbles. So, you are on the right track.

HRP's are not convicts - so if you mix HRP, they are hybrids. Marble convicts are not hybrids, either, so make sure you tell people yours are. I'm following this thread - it's interesting. Good luck!

Most lfs convicts are hrp x cons unless they are collected from the wild. Both of mine are hrp and hrp x cons. Reguardless they will be hybrids.

I asked the seller to send me a pic of the parents but he said he had none. There was no way I was going to buy some fish that I had no idea how it was going to turn out.

Id say some if not most cons probably have some HRP blood in them but it doesnt matter. There isnt a huge market for pure breed convicts anyways. I still call them convicts just cause theres no cool name to call the mix of the two like there is for a middevil.

Everything you just said out your mouth is wrong lol, so you havent be following this thread good at all. First off i never said pink x normal gives you marbles lol the marble gene is reccessive, secondly jellybean cichlids are hybrids i did the pairing myself 2 years ago and raised the fry up to a year so you u dont know what your talking about. If you look it up it even says jellybeans are parrot x pink convict and unless you did the pairing you arguement is not valid, Third HRP x PInk marble is a hybrid so think before u type. HRP X Pink marble will give me Hybrids het for marble so when i breed those offspring together i can make what i call blue marbles.

Just made a great discover guys!!!! As my HRP x Pink marble pair were moving there wigglers I see that there are 15 babies that are white which means that my HRP male is het for the Pink gene this is awesome.
