The best way to get them in the mood is to feed live food, brine shrimp blackworms and tubifex work for me everytime. I was able to breed a midas pair in 3week from them being in a grow out tank. Your right convicts are great parents, parrot cichlids are good parents too. I hope they raise this batch so i can have a good start on this project, when i make the blue marbles im going to pair it up with a sajica cichlid that will be hot.
Yeah that's what I was planning but I don't have no brine shrimp or blood worms at the moment so I have to get so tomorrow when I go to the in laws. For now pellets seem to be doing the trick.
Oh cool. I didn't want you guys to get disappointed if your first batch were all normal convicts. I know inbreeding can lead to higher probabilities of undesirable traits and mutation. I'm not sure if line breeding works better with cichlids. You can try picking the best female of the brood and breed it with the father and/or best male and breed it with the mother?
I wasn't going to be disappointed. I planned for this for a while now. Yes line breeding works in cichlids. It would actually be better then inbreeding.
