Dude you are so right, i wanted a dark marble but i couldnt find any. That is a good idea, i cant believe no one tried for the blue marble but i hope i make some nice ones.

I've seen blue x pearl marbles someone had em on aquabid labeled as ice blue cons.

I have seen this combo before but i havent seen the results from breeding the offspring together, thats going to be exciting for me.

I think the ice blues would be the out come. They were white with blotches of blue and black

My pink marble has orange blotches so the females will be the stunners of the offspring breeding, blue black orange, and it would be nice if some white patches would show up.

That's why I choose a Pearl hrp instead of a pink cause she's actually white. I've had a somewhat marble pink male but he wasn't as nice looking as calicoes

My HRP x Pink marble pair has about 60-70 eggs I wish there was more eggs but what do you expect from a pair thats bearly an inch long. I still cant believe they bred so quick and they are in a 55gal so there will be some nice growth, This female pink marble is really showing some signs of great parenting early on but convicts are great parents anyway. I really hope im able to raise this batch im really happy that these guys bred for me so fast.

As they grow bigger the more eggs they will have in one brood. I wish mine breed like that lol. This pair is being stubborn but I think they are going lay in a day or two both are guarding the squidward house the male seems to be doing his job every time anyone gets close he on the attack. I think I might move this pair to a 40 breeder or 55 soon. IMO cons make the best parents.

Here's an update on my project. The pair seemed to chosen the spongebob house as their spawning site. The female has been dancing around so I think so gunna pop very soon. I started feeding shrimp pellets witch seemed to help prep them.

The best way to get them in the mood is to feed live food, brine shrimp blackworms and tubifex work for me everytime. I was able to breed a midas pair in 3week from them being in a grow out tank. Your right convicts are great parents, parrot cichlids are good parents too. I hope they raise this batch so i can have a good start on this project, when i make the blue marbles im going to pair it up with a sajica cichlid that will be hot.

That the whole point of breeding the offspring together, im not trying to get wanted outcome in the first generation because i know it wont happen. When I breed the offspring together i will get the outcome that im looking for.

I've heard the same thing. So what I planning on doing is once I get the first brood witch will most likely be a mix of black and white. Rear that brood pick out the best looking ones and pair them up. Black and white and hopefully that second batch will produce calico. It might take some more broods to get it right though.

Oh cool. I didn't want you guys to get disappointed if your first batch were all normal convicts. I know inbreeding can lead to higher probabilities of undesirable traits and mutation. I'm not sure if line breeding works better with cichlids. You can try picking the best female of the brood and breed it with the father and/or best male and breed it with the mother?
