Strive for calico convicts

i am going to do some line breeding with cons as soon as i can get a white con. All my con fry have whitish bodies until they are fully grown and i currently have a female fry i raised that is absolutely beautiful! Gonna look for a bunch of white cons. If youre selling them let me know if you have albinos. I just found a huge group of con fry today in my tank. Scooped out a good amount and puth them in seperate tanks. Wish me luck. I might even interbreed fry from an older batch to a newer batch when they are eventually big enough. I forgot where but i saw calico cons for $25.

My lfs had a bunch of females smaller then mine. If I get some white females ill shoot you a pm. Good luck.

I cant believe that some people dont know what a jellybean cichlid is lol, you have some people that think they are injected parrot cichlids and you have some people that think they are just short body convicts lol. Thats true they are short body convicts but the gene didnt just randomly show up, they are pink convict bred to a parrot. I did this pairing 2 years ago and loved the combo.

Thats true they are short body convicts but the gene didnt just randomly show up, they are pink convict bred to a parrot. I did this pairing 2 years ago and loved the combo.

Often store bought jellies are painted.

Update. Well my cons still ain't lay any eggs yet but they are cleaning off a few rocks. The male seems to not like the sponge being in the corner were the spongebob house was. Ive been fattening them up on bloodworms and brine shrimp. Hopefully in the next day or two after the next water change I will have some real progress

HRP x Pink Marble are ready to move the wigglers to the flowerpot once free swimming i will be pulling the fry, Every egg hatch none turned white and all eggs were fertile. Can u believe that? these guys are an inch long and this is there first time breeding, for all there eggs to hatch and be fertile is pretty remarkable i have pairs that have atleast 10% of the eggs go bad. I will be keeping this pair for a while lol.

Oh cool. I didn't want you guys to get disappointed if your first batch were all normal convicts. I know inbreeding can lead to higher probabilities of undesirable traits and mutation. I'm not sure if line breeding works better with cichlids. You can try picking the best female of the brood and breed it with the father and/or best male and breed it with the mother?

Yeah that's what I was planning but I don't have no brine shrimp or blood worms at the moment so I have to get so tomorrow when I go to the in laws. For now pellets seem to be doing the trick.






I wasn't going to be disappointed. I planned for this for a while now. Yes line breeding works in cichlids. It would actually be better then inbreeding.

Thats why trade names suck. You should just ask for the mix you want. Pet Supplies Plus calls their dyed parrots Jellybean Parrots. Shortbody genes can show up over generations of inbreeding. Look at balloon mollys or balloon/angel rams.



Getting a calico con from a pink con x normal black con will be very hard. Id say start with a pink pair because at least with the pink con's fry you can see if their carrying the calico gene. If theyre normal black, you'll never know.
