Great pics... love this tank. I want to inquire about water circulation in an 8' tank, many in regards to keeping fish poop off the sand. Have you messed around moving your power heads around? Is the location they are in now keeping everything off your sand beds... no dead spots?

Actually, the powerbeads both failed about a year in and I haven't replaced them yet. I was a bit torn about it because I thought I liked what they were doing but some of the fish seem to like the area in the middle not having as much flow. Fish seem happier without them so I bought the large Eheim gravel vac and hit the spots where dirt builds up mid week. Between that and my common pleco constantly on the move it stays pretty clean.

Thanks for the kind words!

Man Oh Man! I have to say, This is by far the best tank i have ever seen, and my good friend, Thank you for posting pictures of your tank. Everything about it is nice, the stock, set up, filtration, and the overall look. I want you to know that you have made my day. If you still read this, is there a way you can take a video of you're tank and post it for us to watch? Anyways just wanted to say NICE fiestia BEAUTIFUL fish! Have a good day!

wow just AWESOME dude im soooo jealous

and 4700 aint that bad IMO stand tank and delivered...

and im still curious about the auto water changer... ya say you not worried about chlroine since it gets only a tad bit of water a day kinda thing but eventually the tank will have all tap water and would it not have chlorine in it eventually ?

and with the filter socks, couldnt you just stick em all together ? like the biggest one on bottom for fine filtering and then one inside it to catch medium particles and then anothe rinside it to catch large particles ? then it catches large to med to fine all the time ? or would that make it over flow all the time ?

and isnt your sump too full for a power failure ? doesnt seem like it would allow for much water to drain in there...not doubting your setup im just asking questions to see and understand why you did what ya did is all :)

Thanks man! The autowater changer isnt operational yet because of my location.....primarliy, the drain. Tank sits dead square in the middle of my house on a slab so draining without use of an external pump is not gonna happen. Yet.......lol

The socks could definitely be put together Im sure, just never really tried it more than a time or 2. Being that the socks are up front it takes about 2 minutes to pull them and put new ones on, so I just go with one a side.

The water level in the sump only changes about 2 inches from "off" to "on" because of the height of the standpipes in my overflows. The emergency sits right below the teeth and the primary sits about 3 inches under that, so my sump only rises slightly. Even have the off and on levels marked on the glass for reference. Now if I pulled the standpipes, there would be an issue, but thats why I put valves on the emergency drains so I can pull them for periodic cleaning. I shut the valves, pull the pipes and vacuum the overflows...

makes sense i guess with a custom setup you ca adjust the overflows for the drains to allow so much water to drain and allows you to adjust as much water as ya want in your sump... so you have a fine and coarse sock on each drain ? or just one on each drain ? i guess it isnt too bad if you ran like a med coarse sock and then had a fx5 for just polishing water sucking out of the sump and back into the sump whether thats even possible in a sump like that ? i dunno (ive thought about doing that when i sump my tank)

and what about the chlorine question tho, even tho itonly a tiny bit a day wont it eventually just just pure tap water heavy metal/chlorimine/chlorine and etc ?

Yeah, there is no chlorine issue because manually going water changes and use Safe when I do them. Still haven't figured out my drain situation so the auto water changer is not operational

Wow! I was contemplating getting rid of my big tank, but I think you have inspired me. Great build! Love the stock!
