My outdoor cat tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just got the infrared out and tested it, im at a chilly 65. i wish i could but id hate to have the winter come around and end up responsible for that death.

I thought the 55 gal on the top was going to house your bio-media, no? You gonna need a lot of that for the eventual stock you are planning.

Also, I'd be a bit wary, or at least aware, of the bucket's steel/aluminum handle in contact with the tank water. May be ok but may poison the water especially with small/rare water changes.

As for the plants, pothos was a good suggestion; maybe a peace lily? Just offering to look into it as I am not sure.

Yeah, outdoor tanks for tropical fish will not work in CA. Even big, in-ground ponds do not.

ya i was originally but doing the bio media in the bucket has been perfect, obviously only time will tell. in the back of my mind i expect that if the bucket doesn't remain sufficient ill have to move away from plants in the 55 and do the media. part of my decision was based on my wife saying "but it will beee uggglllyyy" lol. i was also hoping for better nitrite & nitrate control too, kind of like a 2 stage filter? I've had aquariums & mostly cichlids for a long time, but im still cutting my teeth on this one.
