5 ft. Is alot to just get rid of...are u turning that part into a sump? I think u should listen to ur wife and get all 20' down there hah...ur pump should be fine handeling the full gallons as turn over rate is not as important on larger volumes of water. Whats the decieding factor on ur 15' length?

The deciding factor is the fish room that is closest to the laundry room drain and water supply for auto drip system is only 15' long. I only have 1 wall in my basement that's over 20' that's just happens to be the furthest away from my drain & water lines and there is almost no way to hide a drain pipe that would be over 40ft running threw 4 different rooms...
Yes im pretty sure i'll turn the rest of the tank into a sump.
And your right I do want it bigger I just think 15' is the max ill be able to do in this house. If I ever move I will have to cut the tank apart to take it with me and at that time it wouldnt be hard to add more back to the length if the new house would allow...
Before you even suggest it lol, running this tank without a drip system is not an option haha once you have a drip system you never want to go back to routine waterchanges
