WC jaguar cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
One of the first things i said was that i gave him credit and respect for specifying they are florida caught fish and not wild caught.

Nobody is being rude just trying to share some information the op perhaps didnt know or consider.

I find the feral strains of cichlids very interesting. Some look awesome. It is a slippery slope though I suppose!

I wouldn't use 'wild caught' at all if it were me.

As people pointed out, the term wild caught in our hobby would make most people think it was caught from it's natural range. (though some could have pointed it out more politely)

What a particular individual thinks the term means or not, that is the term the overall hobby uses so that is what would be implied if I were purchasing them. If I heard feral, I would know they were coming from Florida or Mexico or Hawaii waters, where as captive bred would mean pond raised or tank raised.

The reason people get a little cranky is because people try to pass feral off as wild, or pond cb as wild ... and people then jump to the assumption that they are being cheated. I don't think you were trying to do that, but a lot of people have been burned on the site by it so the cranky attitudes can be understood.

Unfortunately, fish that are bred in outdoor ponds in Florida ARE sold as wild caught.

Matt

Another "expert" who has his own version of the truth. Facts be damned.

Fish that are commercially bred in outdoor ponds in Florida are not sold as wild caught.

WC is not the same as feral. Period.

Looks to me this thread need some cleaning.

The OP stated, from the onset, that they are Florida caught. And, with that caveat, he gauged for interest.

I, for one, would love to have some, caught in the Florida wilds, Amphis and Mayans .
