I have kept multiple fish tanks in my room, bearded dragon and frogs. Fish tanks didn't smell and I enjoyed them at the time. I don't have tanks in my room anymore - but that's b/c I hate the sound of moving water at night when I am trying to sleep. I got one in the living room, one in the bedroom, one on the kitchen wall and one in the laundry room.

As for arguments like that I would use it as leverage to make a point. Find something she likes that she keeps in the room and say it makes it girly and you don't want a girly room so if you can't have your tank then she can't have her whatever thing is.

I got lucky my hubby likes fish and we usually find common ground and compromise on things. Telling someone what to do in this household does not fly on either end.

I don't have one in the bedroom, but my soon to be wife actually wanted a big tank in the bedroom (she's a keeper right :) ) so after the wedding i'm making a 200G tank :P I already made the stand and it's in the room. I have a tank in the livingroom and it doesn't smell and she hasn't complained about the smell even when she's helping me do a water change. The only thing i'm worried about is her changing her mind if she can't sleep from the sound. I'm going with canister filters but still worried about the pump and bubbles.

You don't need a pump you have surface agitation from the canister outputs or a powerhead pointed towards the surface. Noise problem solved

My dads house is where I keep my fish and tanks. My room here is like 8x10 and its insanely small. I have my 55 and my 15 gallon fry tank along with my 3 gallon bowfront for plants. Not sure which one it is but my parents say it smells bad. Im used to it because its been like that for so long, but I guess it does smell to someone other than us fish keepers. Also I keep my window open 24/7 for 365 days a year. Its literally always open because in summer it gets insanely humid and in the winter ive only closed it twice, once was during a bad storm hoping no snow would fall in. And then another time because it just got very cold. My tanks are always hot and keep my room at a constant 80 degrees in the winter along with my radiator. Then my room is usually hot as balls in summer too.

I have 2 135s and a 50 gallon in my room! My gf never complains about the smell. The only thing I notice like other people said is the humidity.. otherwise I love having the tanks in my room but In the future I will only have one in there ...

I keep Wifus Beautyfullius sp Boss in my bedroom.

Impossible to keep anything else in there.

Lmao!!!

I need a tank in my room to sleep as its been that way for the last 15 yrs...but with 28 tanks in my house I can hear running water at all times in any room so no need for one in the bedroom anymore. I can hear my large cats jumping and running water in the basement through the floor lol....it's impossible to hear rain outside or a storm with all the running water, that's about all my gf complains about. I also lived in my basement for 2 years with all my tanks before meeting my gf... So there not all that bad, I now have a nice upstairs and cable haha....had to bring a couple tanks upstairs to watch when she talks to much...I call it compromise hah... as for the smell were used to it...if she stays around long enough shell get used to it too and stop nagging.
