nothing like answering the WRONG POST:hitting:

don't worry about offending me. I don't take the internets too seriously, lol
but you were wrong on several occasions. everyone makes at least min wage. we got that straight. no one is forced to do these "horrible" jobs and no one is working for free. but maybe you were exaggerating to make your point. I didn't use the cost of the food to justify my stance. was just pointing it out. the person serving me is doing what they are supposed to be doing, serve me my food, which you are paid min wage for and which usually ends up being more after tips. explain to me why I am the one that should do the boycotting? that's ridiculous. if I didn't like my job, can you boycott for me? no! if I don't like my job, I find a better paying job to pay my bills

and you couldn't be more wrong about my backstory. after the Vietnam war, my parents came over as refugees. they raised livestock and farmed for a living over there. they spoke no English and there were 8 of us kids. we had foodstamp and welfare for a while. so the term "dirt poor",............ well, I can tell you that I know from personal experience what that means. wearing the same shoes and clothing for years at a time while everyone else got new clothes every year. drinking sugar water because we couldn't afford soda and punch and things like that, i can go on and on. but you proved me right about people being judgmental just because someone disagree with the concept of tipping. and don't get it wrong, I tip. I just don't tip what you consider what is the norm. if you are in a crappy living situation because you are a food server or something along those lines, don't be mad at the customer. you can do something about it like I did and many many people do

cry me a river. the poor servers have to put up with cleaning and serving. so what? you guys are using lame excuses to justify why they should be tipped so graciously. a lot of reaching imo. that still doesn't justify why they need to be given so much extra money. and yet again, there are hundreds of min wage jobs where people do work that is much harder and dirtier than a waiter. my problem is that only you servers should be tipped.

seriously people, you can be a server and have zero education. you can be some gangster that changed his life around and become a good waiter. you can't justify to me why they deserve the extra money for doing their job that they are already making min wage, at least and it's usually more. it's not like you gotta have some talented skillset to become a server. my 7 year old can probably be a good waitress. I don't get why you think they deserve more money than min wage

thank you

IT'S FINE ,, I hold no grudges,,,we shall have to adjust to NOT agreeing on this.... onward!!

Oh man, so many laughs

Just for the record, I tip, 10%. 50% for drinks at the bar. Zero on carry outs.

Wanna know why I even brought up this topic? Drew brees , NFL QB is catching heat for tipping 3 dollars on a 80$ tab......for carry out! I know he's made 100 million plus but unless he's feeling charitable I don't see why he should've tipped at all. They didn't cater it!
agrred tipping shouldnt be expected on carry out ...the guy that posted that oughta get sent home for a couple days to cool off...

It's hot. :( I don't like it. And I wanna wear my new fancy-schmancy Augsburg hoodie.

Back on topic....

I'm with Sumo. All the way. (Except I will tip good) :)

Personally, I like my job. I work for a good and honest guy, even if I do have to pay for all my food. We don't claim our tips and are paid min wage. It's a service job. What do you expect? It's like going to wal mart and asking for $10/hr. Let's be realistic.

That said, as soon as I'm done with school (or sooner) I'm out. I can't get married and live on the wage from Pizza Planet. And I hate working nights. I'd rather work days and that doesn't work out very well with the rest of my schedule.

The point here is that for most (in my neck of the woods anyway) jobs like these are temporary. They are for the high schoolers to get work experience under their belt and provide people like me with gas money to get through college. Nothing more. Don't try to make it what it isn't.

I'd like to even go so far as to suggest that these jobs serve an important social function just the way they are. Like I stated, service jobs, whatever form they take, provide our children with the invaluable work experience they need to be productive members of society. If we, say, up the pay then the manager becomes more selective about whom he hires and then to where are our high schoolers to turn for work experience? Just a thought. :)

Kelly I don't disagree with you much but LOTS of peeps gotta do those kinda jobs their whole lives ...not always by choice...sometimes ya gotta work instead of having the luxury of trying to change jobs...it aint easy being poor even n the good ol USA....and its not about liking your job,at least in a grand scale...its about paying the bills..as you get older you may find that a bit of a trick, even when your making decent money .....best of luck to ALL on this.....
