Maybe I have my rounds mixed up... In overall striking they were pretty even. But literally what it means when someone else is busted up is the effective striking was far more effective from Johnny. Period. The octagon control was better from Johnny. I'm a huge GSP fan. But he got beat. How are you watching the fight again? Priatebay.se is my preferred torrent website. My PC is down at the moment or I would watch it again my self.

Drew

again, damage is not a criteria for judging

So Georges personal problems are slowly being revealed.
Many people thought that he was ***, myself included, and thought he was debating coming out of the closet. It turns out that his father is very sick, and he knocked up a woman that he doesn't want to have a kid with. I guess this is why he needs some time off. Can't blame him.

gsp's sister went on the record to say that their dad is fine. the thing about the knocked up woman has yet to be proven one way or another

I never thought of him to play for the opposite team

anyways, i'm gonna try and rewatch the fight right now

Damage is still very important. They replaced the term "damage" with "effective" for legal purposes, and to seem less barbaric.

3. Damage:
“Damage” is as a term has been used a descriptor when discussing the scoring of MMA rounds by officials. It is the committee's recommendation that this terminology be replaced by the term “effective”. This was a strongly debated consideration with the committee and some thing the committee reviewed in its entirety. The following reasons were given to remove the descriptor “Damage”:

1. The legal considerations surrounding the term “Damage” as a descriptor were given considerable weight and as such the committee felt that using the word “Damage” may contribute to the potential for liability in the event of any litigation that commissions may find themselves involved in.

2. The sport of MMA is still relatively new and has not received sanctioning in various jurisdictions. The committee felt that “Damage” as a descriptor may play a factor in helping to determine future sanctioning if the term was taken out of context with many opposed to MMA as a sport.

3. ABC Instructors who currently use this as part of their teaching curriculum are advised to make any and all subsequent modifications to their course material.

You never thought that GSP was ***?

as long as there are honeys in the tub all over him I have no reason to believe it.

never thought about it actually until just recently

lol, maybe. come to think of it, as long as I've known who he was, I never knew of him having a girlfriend. but then I don't know of a lot of fighters having a girlfriend

anyways, just finished the fight. here are my thoughts,...... I didn't do a striking count or anything but just overall analyzed. still feel the same as far as who won what rounds

rd 1, still have it being the closest round. gsp wins the exchanges all night when he was fighting on the outside. excellent footwork staying and moving to his left to avoid hendricks' left hand. Hendricks lands the harder punches but he gets tagged a lot from the outside, they have one take down each, neither doing anything significant after getting the take downs. hendricks' best moments in round 1 is in the middle of the round in the clinch, landing elbows to the head while George is trying to get the single leg takedown and nice knees to George's thighs. once separated George controls the outside with jabs and pops Hendricks head back a lot. this one I can see going either way
close round

rd 2, there are no take downs. Hendricks hurts George early in the round, first two minutes Hendricks is clearly winning. but then after that, George comes back fighting on the outside, tagging Hendricks with counters and jabs. scoring a lot of punches but nothing devastating. after George recovers he kind of takes over the round so I can see the argument for this round going to George but I scored it for Hendricks for being the one to hurt gsp more.
Hendricks wins round 2

rd 3, 1st half of the round I have George winning by outpointing Hendricks. Neither doing anything significant but again, George outpointing Hendricks from the outside. edging Hendricks the whole round but then Hendricks scores a takedown with like 30 sec left. not able to mount any ground and pound and at about 10 sec George gets back up. this round goes to George. One take down lasting about 20 seconds doesn't win the round when you're losing the whole round especially if you couldn't mount any offense with it
Gsp wins round 3

rd 4, no take downs, round fairly even with Hendricks able to land power shots. About a little over a minute in George trips and Hendricks gets on top. lands some shots, controls on the ground but then he gets up and lets George get up which I felt was a mistake. He should've used the opportunity to continue to land, control George and tire him out. But he does enough to win this round
Hendricks wins round 4

rd 5, this round was a lot closer than I had initially thought. first minute and a half I have Hendricks leading the round but then George scores a take down. Hendricks able to get right back up, then George turns it up. starts controlling the pace with Hendricks mainly back pedaling and countering. neither landing anything big but George is edging out the round on the feet with aggression and with octagon control. another takedown by George about a 45 seconds left. Hendricks ends up getting up and they clinch up with George going for a kimura and clock runs out. Over all in this round while George is trying to make something happen, Hendricks decides to cruise and looks to be the slightly more fatigue of the two.
George wins round 5

when I say damage isn't a criteria in judging a fight, I mean over all. people like to say, "well look at his face." some people bruise, cut and bleed easier than others and the state of someone's face doesn't necessarily tell the whole story.

I don't think Hendricks controlled the whole fight like a lot are saying. they both have times where they are in the pocket, take control of the center or back pedal. for the most part they are both engaging. gsp has the advantage once they start striking from the outside but in the clinch Hendricks had the advantage overall. when Hendricks closed the gap he was successful but not from the outside. their wrestling nullified eachother but George had 3 takedowns and Hendricks has 2 overall.

Very good synopsis of the fight and agree with your last post. If I have time I might watch it again.
