My electric blue acaras just laid eggs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They should hatch with good, clean water as long as the parents are with them. The EB acaras are definitely fertile -- I have a batch of three-week old fry right now. But the question is whether the fry are electric blue. I guess I won't know that for another month or two.

They are not with the parents. . I didn't trust the clown loaches... so about 20 % water changes every day ? And else let nature do the rest ?
Will be interesting to see if the fry you got turn out electric blue

Eggs without parents is tricky. You can try methylene blue but you also need to keep circulation over them. With angel eggs I used to use a small airstone placed about an inch above the eggs to keep a current of water moving over them.

I'd try to leave the next spawn with the parents. Acaras are usually good parents and could probably manage to get them to wriggler stage in two days, then you could siphon out the fry.

Thanks for the advice. I already gave them a new flat rock to pkay with. And then I will leave that with the parents and lrt them keep the next eggs.
The eggs I moved yesterday still look good

You shouldn't need it now that the eggs have hatched. They will wriggle for five or so days, just keep the water circulating.

Very cool, I just picked up a trio of EBA's myself and it's awesome to find out that they breed so readily . While whether the fry will be EBA's or regular Blue Acara's is up in the air at very least the offspring should be carriers of the gene and as such if the fry get bred back to the parents or each other when they're mature I believe you should be able to produce more EBA's.
