Any FOWL keepers out there?

I have a few chickens, currently just buff orpingtons, and used to have golden pheasants. Trying to sell the wife on a couple Muscovies but no luck with that so far.

The quail I've seen at pet shops are button quail. Occasionally i'll see coturnix at the feed stores.

Buff's are nice big gentle birds. I was considering them but ended up with Barreds. I always wanted to try some Red Goldens, they're such pretty birds. A farm down the street from me has a few Muscovies. They must not be the brightest because they're always out on the road in front of his house and a few have been hit.

I forgot about Button Quail. There use to be a pet store near me that sold them. They had them in an aquarium which I found a bit odd for a bird.

I'd love some geese but they can be too loud and I have neighbors that are kind of close. I already push it with the guineas if you've ever heard the noise the can make! You have Sumatras? I love the look of those, very primitive.[/QUOTE]

They are loud but so sweet and funny. Yeah guineas are loud too lol. I have black and blue sumatra I love the long tails

Picked up 6 Silkie chicks this weekend. I've been trying to find a few of this chicken breed to keep with my lone hen.

They're really neat, comical birds but they can wander off your property at times and they can be very noisy!

That's just their day time light. At night they have a red heat bulb.

The wife picked up some new chicks a week or so ago. Couple barnyard mixes, laced wyandottes, red stars, barred rocks. 9 in total.
