Great news!!! Spartacus likes and went directly for feeder guppies.. I'm so freaking glad I saw him eat something! I did put in a pinhead cricket and it danced all over the surface but Spartacus didn't go after it. So then I put 3 feeder guppies one swam past he struck at it missed and then swam after it struck a second time and engulfed it whole without an issue! I figured he was done for a day or two but he seems active in searching for another one. They are staying well below him at the bottom for now lol guppies are smart?!?! Thanks for all the advice on how and what to try feeding my new baby aro!

Ya silvers can't be with any other cichlids. Cichlids are too tough and silvers are too timid. Only cichlids that worked with me were parrots. Haven't had a silver in a while until I rescued an aro from my inexperienced friend who put my flowerhorn he was watching with his aro. Apparently he grew them out together until the flowerhorn turned on the aro at about 3 inches. Wrecked pretty bad so I took over and I healed him up pretty nicely over the months

This was August

This is now
Heavy eater eats aro pellets throughout the week and in weekends he gets a variation of crickets, mealworms, and market shrimp
He's about 14 inches and loves to be hand fed

This is the 5 inch flowerhorn that beat him up. So don't matter size, its the ferocity

I prefer to stay away from live fish higher risk of disease and makes poop dirtier and water. Especially when little try insects and pellets in my opinion and maybe a live fish here and there or market fish meat like tilapia or market shrimp when bigger

He's had a rough start and hadn't eating anything sense I've had him the last few days so I'm just glad he went for something. He did eat a pinhead today also. I will keep trying until I do get him on a pellet mainly but for now if he likes baby guppies he will be offered them until I can get some growth. Thanks for the advice
