Being on this board since 05 you'd be surprised how many times topics repeat themselves. So many people much rather ask the same question aqain instead of typing it in the forums search bar.

well in this case my question or wonderings as i put it , was to maybe start a conversation and find out info as to weather fish raised in a tank would be eatable or not . in regard to any reason why not , meds being one , or just being raised in a confined space or what ever .
now you tell me were to search for this lol and why search if one is willing to start a conversation as much as finding straight forward answers .
. not just a search about " hey im a gonna eat my fish ha ha " . i dont think the search function would have resulted in what i am looking for just as this thread still hasnt really apart from opinions which is ok too but . im seeing now that no one here has the specific answers . an example would be that as some have said , some of the things we use such as water conditioner say not for human consumption . ok sure but this is still not enough is this more so meaning dont drink the stuff from the bottle lol or does it mean that the fish are then contaminated with something that we wouldnt want to ingest . as good as the search funtion may be for a lot of things a person still might need or want to start a thread

^ lets not take another thread in that direction please...

Anyway, regarding the human consuption on the bottle, i guess one could say it meant it in a way not for humans to drink, but considering the fish absord whats in the water, maybe those chemicals could also end up in the parts you eat...

in a nut shell thats what i was wondering from a safty stand point . or for any other reason like if the fish would maybe be spoiled somehow and not as good from the confined recirculating water instead of constant water replacement like say in a river or something like that .
i guess i could maybe ask at a college that teaches aquaculture or something for real specific answers but none the less interesting thoughts is all

I guess some other food for thought, living in Asia, its quite common to hear people say Farmed Fish doesnt taste as good as wild caught fish, regardless if its fresh or saltwater fish...

So i wonder if chemicals / foods / exercise has something to do with that...

I think it would be fine to eat if you want. Also, I support your decision to do so, just make a thread about it and rank the fish based on taste. If I knew certain fish tasted better than others I might follow suit. (It would be hilarious if you can get your own forum. It would be the buffalo bill forum on the site, "it eats the pellets or it gets the hose.") Kidding aside, it's a better way to remove a trouble fish from a tank than just killing and wasting it. Plus it would make a nice sandwich, like Frank said.

On my water conditioner it says not to be used on fish raised for human consumption, and on most meds we use the same message appears. Most medication used on animals bred for human consumption is extensively tested and there for more expensive than the ones available for the pet trade. Meat, fish imported in to the UK have to pass the same welfare and quality standards as domestic livestock, I would imagine the USA is the same, asda/Walmart in the UK can tell you where each fish came from and what medication it has had, even what temperature it has been kept at while being transported.

You say that, McDonald's can trace every single burger back to the cow it came from and pull up the veterinary history of that animal, and every person who has touched it from the butcher to the delivery driver. Big companies are scared of law suites and bad reputations
