Sick fish or just bacteria?

I noticed this white clear cloudish stuff on my driftwood only today and wasn't sure wat it is? I'M not gonna lie I have been over feeding a bit in order to have my roseline sharks eat a bit since the 15 platies demolish everything (they'll be gone in a week or 2) I'm gonna do a water change and gravel vac first thing tomorrow. Pics are kinda hard to see but hopefully someone has an idea

If that's real driftwood then it's just the beneficial bacteria. Nothing to worry about.

Yes it's real driftwood, I don't really see much on my big piece I have In there just the 2 small I showed. If I set up another tank could I just use one of those pieces to instantly cycle it or would it not be enough?

Not completely sure. Just play it safe by adding bottled bacteria and ammonia, and testing the water daily.

it's fungus from overfeeding most likely.....I have seen the exact same thing grow on old pellets that don't get eaten and stay in the gravel for a few days. A few catfish will prevent that from ever happening againn

Not waiting for photos to load, but sounds like its just a regular white fungus that grows on driftwood when newly placed in a tank...

Give it a while and it dissapears, otherwise you can manually remove it by hand during water changes, or get fish that eat it such as ottos...

This. Almost all new driftwood I get from an LFS grows it for a week or so. It'll die off. On another note I never get it on pieces I've collected myself from local streams, wondering if its something that lays dormant in the common species of driftwood sold in most stores?
