Update of 150g Polys Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No picture bump. I need to clean the tank. A little update on the 150. I had a scary moment and almost lost all the fish. I've been testing out dmd123 lights off feeding schedule to power feed my weeksii. Well the plan didn't work out like I had in mind. My Orino bass ate too much tilapia and ended up regurgitated all the excess tilapias out while I was in bed. I woke up to a stinky tank in the living room with a visibility of 1ft. Fish were gasping for air. I grabbed the hose and started my 50% WC then clean out two canisters. Left the Sicce Whale canister running since I don't want to destroy all the bacterias.

Now the bichirs seem to be normal and doing fine. However, their appetite seem to be a bit off. Lesson learn is to never over feed tilapia.

I have been getting the itch to get a PBB or a 125g tank. I think I should get a tank. It's a more practical choice. What do U guys think?

You got Rubbermaid tubs I presume. :) Get 1 of J-Chus pbb. :) Just kidding man..... Ya, unless you keep that large p-bass (tilapia hog). Getting another tank would help. Of course, symmetrical fork bar dat stays!!!!! I've notice some 180 sales are the same or cheaper than a 125. hint hint , lol

Yup its better to get another tank, me and Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 were taking about me adding a pbass cause my pinktail chalceus is being taken down one by one by the polys, but then seing some videos how the pbass can eat and become a future problem to the poly i decide not to get some, maybe once i get another tank then ill get a pbass tank.

Some after feeding pics from earlier tonight. The weeksii got an ouchy on his pectoral fin. I am not sure which bichir messed him up. :-(

Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 I can't have a 180g. It would stick out a bit more than I like in the garage. I fear my wife will hit it with her car. LoL i will have my 240g running before next year. The 125g is more of a qt, hospital tank, peaceful community fish. The only reason I want to get a 125g is to consolidate all my little tanks(40s,30,20).

Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 don't get a bass but it's hard not to because the Orino and kelberi colors will glow. I highly recommend a datnoid over a bass. Datnoid are more calm when it's feeding time. Bass are tank buster like pacu. They will splash and get all crazy during feeding like those annoying little girly dogs.

thats the same thing what Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 told me about the feeding part, same thing on what i watch in you tube, they be stealing the polys food so the polys have to compete with each other and with the pbass. Thanks for the good info. Its better to know alot too from someone who have experience on having the same species in the same tank.
