Noone is omnipotent out in blue water. It swarms with orcas, big billfish, tunas, bigger sharks, etc. Anything pelagic lives a hard, violent life ever searching, always watchfull, even an orca is mincemeat if it comes across a mother sperm whale...

I have a good understanding of nature, so I am well aware of the peril. The question you asked was not about survival chances, but what fish we would like to be. I chose a mako. I want to roam the open ocean by myself at a fast rate sporting a bada$$ grill

I like mucking around, salvaging other people's junk. I always gravitate towards catfish for this reason. You are right. A full grown SMB probably would have the best chances in a lake, but I would want to be a brown bullhead. I understand you fully.
