Is this uncommon?

Yeah... Some days I'll have them very dim and some nice and bright. Lighting only bothers them when I first put them on and then their fine.

My tanks are all in the basement and they get enough light through the windows during the day.I turn the tank lights on in the evening sometimes.

It's probably just getting used to the new en vironment.

I'd leave the light on a lot so it gets use to it again. Probably use to being fed when seeing people at the tank.
