Another plywood build ( 400 gallon +)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Quick update. Got caught up with some other things but will be doing final fiberglass coat today. Also switched up a couple things. Decided to order some starphire glass instead of regular plate. Ordered it Monday and was told it would ship Tuesday. Called again today and am waiting for a call back. I ordered it from glass cages. I know a decent amount of other members have too but honestly their customer service is pretty bad and the old lady who handles the phone seems very disorganized and makes you feel like an annoyance for calling about the glass you paid for. Rant over. As long as glass gets here in a reasonable time it will be water under the bridge.

Glasscages sucks to deal with but is also hard to beat on price. I just wish they made a deliveries further north than LA

Yep that pretty much sums up my experience. I actually had to get a freight delivery so we’ll see how that goes

So I have a question, with these plywood builds do you fiberglass the lid seam all around after the glass is installed and the lid attached? Or is it just a matter of siliconing the tank / lid joint?

Sorry I’m not 100% sure exactly what your asking but after my glass is installed I will be screwing the lid into place all around the top of the tank I built it so it sits on top of the tank and tucked in behind the trim too I will probably go ahead and silicone the seams too just for any moisture that might happen to creep in.
