the shipping is what kills it for me. dropping 50 bucks just for shipping seems a bit much when i've had other companies ship for 15 and never had a DOA

$15 over night though? I've had mixed luck with other methods of shipping in the past, mostly good, but over night has always been good.

no not overnight. but i've never had a DOA with priority or 2-3 day shipping. I'm sure there are some species that require this and 40 or 50 bucks isn't a bad price for overnight but at least in my experience it's never been a must and i've never regretted 2-3 day shipping.

When I ordered from COTA my hets all came in fine with the 2-3 day shipping, ordered some polys with 2-3 day and they were fine as well. One time I ordered some fish off aquabid and the post office seriously messed up my package a couple of times, dropped it, water all over. Jerks.

Same here. I've ordered from a few places. I order from trinsfish.com mostly and always 2-3 day shipping with no problem. Ordered the hets off of a breeder in LA 2-3 day shipping fine again. Ordered some sajicas from a guy on aquabid. 2-3 day shipping and they got delayed and actually took 5 days. All fish were perfectly fine. Again...not saying there isn't a time when fish need to be overnighted but i haven't run into any yet

Ive ordered from ws and magpie magpie took her fish there to ship out to myself and clm08k clm08k . Both times shipping was great, fast, and well packed. They worked with me on my order even sending me two pics of the teug I got so I could pick one. I guess thats not something they do all the time but it was nice of her to do it. If I have a hard time finding something I want I'll go there again, and will always recommend them to others.

I've order from them before and it was the best experience I've had ordering live animals online

Every time I've ordered anywhere using 2-3 day shipping it has taken anywhere from 4-10 days luckily all fish were extremely hardy and pulled through although 3 were in bad shape(2 ropefish and a lungfish)

The rescue I work with has used 2-3 days shipping a couple times to disastrous results. Once they lost a betta for 18 days and instead of delivering it brought it back figuring it was dead, luckily because of the use of breather bags and shipping with moss it survived just barely. Recently we shipped some shrimp they didn't deliver it and returned it to the post office then wouldn't let us pick it up because they couldn't confirm we were the ones to ship it because they don't require ID to ship. Now we only ship next day

It really depends where the location is at, i bought fish from WS which is in oregon and paid $30 shipping, and i even bought fish from monster aquarium inc. which is in NY and paid $100-$200 depending on how many fish i get.

It really depends on how much you want the fish, its hard to wait for the fish you want in your lfs, especially if you already have a fish that are in the tank and growing, unless you have a seperate grow out tank.

I did a water change on my 120 last night, probably around 40%. An hour and half after the water change I found my Lap upside down, I thought she was dead. I poked her with my net and she swam off.

She then began to swim very erratically, banging into the glass, couldn't keep herself upright, just like my polys that died last week.

All other fish and tanks were completely unaffected.
