I suggested the red shoulder because they are pretty in my opinion and are supposed to be a little bit less aggressive. Personally I have kept greens and gold, did not find either to be too aggressive. But they were with large cichlids, not small community fish.

The lava rock you buy at home depot etc. they sell then for barbecues. I'd just buy a big ol' bag and use as much as you can fit in there.

do you think a sump 30 gals can take on the bio load,

Also whats the best media that basically will last forever for a sump,?

Just remember a 30 gallon sump will not necessarily give you an extra 30 gallons of water.

If you make a wet/dry trickle portion in that sump with plastic bio-balls (best one) or lava rock. I can see it handling the load of 1 large fish plus all the other small fish, no problem.

Okay lava rock it is. Red shoulders are nice looking, I love the ones that have the most lines on their face like redspot, but I need just one for a black water tank, anyother recommendations?

its a crystal trigger dual overflow, no space to put trikle , only submerged

would recommend that you take lots of pics and share when done, sounds like a nice tank :)

The ones with the lines on the face are male severums.

Yes, but it mat take months till I can have everything done, the lights and wave makers will have to wait, I dont have a job so having trouble with that. Have any recommendations on
1. automatic day/night cycle LED for 60" tank
2. randomized wave pumps

or does someone know where to get a great deal on all the CURRENT USA stuff, I am a terrible Canadian.

Uaru 2
dwarf cichlids 4 0r 5
columbian adults 12
shrimp 2
corys 8
severum 1

thats the tank stacking, gonna love it :)

You don't need a wave maker or even lights for the tank. (I still wouldn't trust a severum with shrimp) Just make sure you don't have a canopy, and the room is well lit with either sunlight or room light.
