Yeah at 18" there's a good chance of losing a digit... Only fish I can think I would be equally careful around are large aimara and gatf

Forget losing a finger, I'd be more worried about them biting halfway through my wrist.

If they can bite through a clam at about 6 inches then imagine what they could do to a hand let alone a hand!
Imagine what a dozen of them could do to your arm if you got distracted for a few seconds

Or a pool of them if you fell in !
WhenEver we fed the hundreds of turtles at the LOtO I wondered what would happen if someone fell in

Got bit by a catfish noodling, really messed up my hand for a few months, would hate to be bit by a 3 ft fahaka

Six foot catfish have attacked divers pretty bad in some lakes

I believe fahaka only get 18" TBF lol.
Mbu get huge, 2-3ft.
