He still hasnt eaten i tried feeding another pellet, i dont know if its cause he doesnt like them bc i tried bloodworms as well and he didnt eat that plus he has eaten one of the pellets the first night i had him. I listened to what one of the guys put on this post about putting a pvc pipe in so i cut a peice and put it in he hasnt been in it yet. I also have had the led lights off since last night. Still nothing. Now he just moved to a different spot and just sits there now. Like i said earlier i have decently high nitrates and am in the middle of taking care of them with water changes could this be the issue?

For a while just starve him or introduce feeders. The more you mess with him in the early stages the higher chance of tank crashing + the more he has a hard time acclimating to a new home. If you try hikari sinking pellets next time vs floating pellets he will begin to have a taste for unnatural foods and will be undisturbed to eat with confidence. Any frozen or freeze dried stuff should be a treat later not really when right now though.

I also forgot to mention, he is in a tank with a small convict cichlid. At first the cichlid would chase and eventually the catfish would stands its ground and now the cichlid wont even go near him it actually seems to be scared of the catfish could this somehow be causing this issue? They dont bother each other AT ALL

These are the pellets i have been trying to feed him he has only taken one of them the first night i got him. (They are sinking pellets)

If any fish doesn't attack food they're not hungry or not yet comfortable in cases of new fishes in tanks. Some will acclimate better than others obviously but what u have there is a river monster, give him less lighting for the time being, anything to make him more chillax.

If you are able to pick up a pack of these you may find success. They are a fair bit more up front cost but it seems to fill the fish up much faster than the omega 1. Also the texture of these pellets entice carnivorous fish to eat them.

It took me 3 months to get my chichlas on pellets, these were the first ones that worked. All my fish (except my moody Oscar) love them and go nuts for them. I have one bass that will only eat these.

Also like Bonytang Bonytang mentioned, let it be for a day or so. They can usually go with out food for a few days no problem.

I got him a week ago and havent fed him once since than he just wont take anything im just gonna let him be i have the lights off i put the pvc pipe in. Im going to fix the nitrate issue and try changing the food. I guess what really is bothering me is that i just hope he is not sick or having issues because of what im doing on my end.

In the wild what kind of fish does this specific cat eat? Find somee of that + keep us posted. I haven't kept a wild baby cat in over 20 years so this post here to me is pretty fun to see how he grows up.

Good to know. Have you treated it in qt at all? I often treat my new arrivals with a dose of salt and paragaurd from seachem. Sometimes parasites can hinder appetite.
