Some pics of the shrimp who was front and center. I think it is a female.
Also some pics of the snails if anyone wants to hazard an ID.

These fish do present a bit of a challenge when trying to get a good pic of them.
I need better lighting and to play with the settings more.
Here are a few pics.

This is what the juvies look like atm. The lateral black stripe only starting to form.

These are the two largest Horse Mouths. The larger one is a bit of a bully. But the fish are fast and the tank has space.

There looking good. Don't know anything about the species, are they prone to being nippy with each other.

This is the first time I have kept them. They do seem rather boisterous with each other. Much like tiger barbs but with a bit more speed and intention. Having said that, they will go from a full on chase to hanging out in the current together in a matter of seconds.
They seem to be growing well with the diet they are on and a full belly seems to keep them happy.

Reading through this whole thread is an absolute inspiration. The research you’ve Put into this setup is amazing. I, too, live by a couple small rivers and have been interested in setting up a tank mimicking the local environment. Hats off to you! Looking forward to seeing the continuing progression of this project!

I did something I shouldn't have. But I couldn't help it.

Went to a large chain store here which I was passing on the way home. Looked around and saw two species that looked interesting.

One was Sicyopterus japonica or monk goby. It seemed really nice but after some quick searching a lot of brackish, marine and amphidromous words were mentioned so I decided to research this more before buying.

The other species however, I could not pass up on for when I build my stream manifold racks as I have wanted these for a while and have not been able to find them. I had to get the guy in the shop to read me the Mandarin name on the glass(didn't recognize the characters) as I typed it into Google search and then find the scientific name. I used this to confirm it was what I wanted. Not only was the price really good, especially for this particular chain which is known to inflate prices but, they had two pairs. So I got them. Both pairs.

Now these are only being housed in this tank for a few months and won't be permanent. I know they are not part of the biotope but they are suited to this style of aquarium.

Here is a pic of them in the bag in the tank acclimating. One of the pairs.

Any guesses?
