I did something I shouldn't have. But I couldn't help it.
Went to a large chain store here which I was passing on the way home. Looked around and saw two species that looked interesting.
One was Sicyopterus japonica or monk goby. It seemed really nice but after some quick searching a lot of brackish, marine and amphidromous words were mentioned so I decided to research this more before buying.
The other species however, I could not pass up on for when I build my stream manifold racks as I have wanted these for a while and have not been able to find them. I had to get the guy in the shop to read me the Mandarin name on the glass(didn't recognize the characters) as I typed it into Google search and then find the scientific name. I used this to confirm it was what I wanted. Not only was the price really good, especially for this particular chain which is known to inflate prices but, they had two pairs. So I got them. Both pairs.
Now these are only being housed in this tank for a few months and won't be permanent. I know they are not part of the biotope but they are suited to this style of aquarium.
Here is a pic of them in the bag in the tank acclimating. One of the pairs.
Any guesses?
