could I keep a datnoid in a 300gal?

Yeah that should not be a problem. But keep in mind you cant always go by gallons. The footprint is important to some fish. Say rays for an example. Bigger is always better but the footprint is whats most important. You can have like my growout tank thats 150x60x60cm wich is 540L thats perfect for growing out raypups. But would be better if it where 100x100x54cm instead. Same liter but diffrent footprint.

I just got a little dat. From what the guys in the dat section say they can be fun fish.

Dats is absolutely fun to own but as i said its a gamble with dats. Some dats is always showing colors and is very interactive some dats is hiding against the back of the tank all black. Out of 4 indo dats ive got one is stable and always showing colors.

Thats nice. I would go the ray route if i where you. Potamotrygon hystrix would work its whole life in that tank.
