It's really a shame how people like you can't handle some adult discourse and debate without insulting others and then acting all hurt and saint-like. Getting back to your FH Ash_water I would have to say I agree with Ruturaj that he does look on the stressed side -- do you have plans to move him to a bigger tank? My reckoning/experience is that soon after doing that you will see much faster development in size, coloration and kok size as well.

Yes yes surely. My target was to get him/her to a 50 gallon minimum as soon as he/she hits 4 inches.
So soon will get the tank. Probably within this month.

If you kept that fish in that much space from 3 inches to 3.8-4 inches now then the space is for sure affecting his growth. You need to give him more space. Also if those black lines always show then you need to find out why he is stressed.

I would be more concerned about the health than gender.

He or she will get a 50 gallon within Jan

Glare is the tricky part photographing a fish out of water. It's still kinda hard to tell because of it.

That's great to hear about upsizing, he'll love it. Insofar as the venting I'm not sure, it's really not my area and await others to chime in. In fact I've never vented any of my 4 Flowerhorns over the years, didn't really need to, I knew or strongly suspected they were males when I bought them and they all turned out to be males. I strongly suspect the same of your FH but am happy to be proven wrong (though agreed the pix could be clearer).
