Starting this thread to record my experience with growing out a Bagarius rutilus (I believe) that I just picked up from a lfs that was labeled as B. yarrelli.

It was in the lfs for over a month. It seems extremely healthy, and is also already on pellets which is a huge plus. I will be quarantining it in a 40b for 3-4 weeks and then moving him into my 180gal. This is a picture of the goonch in the tank at my lfs right before they bagged him up for me. I picked the lighter colored one on the right, around 6-7" I'd say. I'm extremely excited to finally own this fish, already one of my favorite in my collection and he's still being drip acclimated! goonch .JPG

Quick update: almost one week in and he’s looking great. I haven’t seen him eat yet, but on the other side of the divider I have some dwarf praecox rainbows. Before I put the goonch in I had 15 and now I’m down to 8, so I guess some have gotten through the divider and he’s picked them off. I don’t mind too much, at least he’s eating. 35867E14-CF6B-40A9-86EC-53D2F9181939.jpeg10D550DC-97B0-4F2E-8ED8-ED2689EC81CA.jpeg
