I have a new 55 gallon set up and I was using a old whisper filter for the tank but its driving me insane with motor noise. Any suggestions? The tank is my headboard so i need quiet.

The sachem trials are quiet if you keep the water level up. I prefer aquarclears, but my tidal is quieter on the same tank.

My aquaclear 110 is doing just fine after 4 years.

If it's rattling I will take it apart and clean out the motor and impeller, usually gets rid of any noise

Agree, aquaclear is the industry standard and seachem tidal looks real good when properly used but I think they are smaller than the ac110

Hob wise I agree with AquaClear being the best. To help the noise keep you water level higher so less splashing noise.

Unfortunately i can't raise the water level fully because i have a african lungfish in there and he needs space to breathe but can you give me some examples of the sponge filters. I have a canister on my 45 which i love but the tank position would work better with a hob
