This is boxerlover...I had a computer crash and my log on was under my old email and couldn't remember my password, so I created a new member name. There are 3 pieces of wood in my tank that I have had for a long time, can't really remember where I got them. I am hoping that the crew will live in harmony for awhile. Can't wait to see your tank.

Here is some collection point data on Thorichthys meeki, from the book American Cichlids II, by Staeck, and Linke.

Note the time, near the hottest part of the day, in the tropics, so this is only one snippet of sampling, Thorichthys are found all over this part of Mexico. Areas where I have traveled, and they are common, waters are slightly cooler (in the deeper Cenotes) and pH much higher, especially in the limestone areas of the Yucatan

Also tank raised meeki do fine high 70’s f. Spikes in higher temps are ok too. It’s long exposure to 80f+ temps that will kill them.
I just have had success with an I heated tank. The temps do fluctuate and will go into the 80s in the summer.

temps are finally stabilizing into the warmer temps and I am starting to wash the sand outside. Also moving things around in the house for my mom (i live with her) as she wants the aquarium in a different spot not far away.

sand has been cleaned and I'm about to add water and start cycling, it's been slow going with everything going on but I'm getting there. I've narrowed down plants to 3-4 species (debating between Vallisneria and broad-leaved amazon sword plants).
