Flowerhorn growout

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I’ll talk to my mom about it on the car ride tomorrow to the petstore. Should I worry about this bump thing? He’s always had it but what is it from? Just a natural deformity or do most to all FH have this at a young age? Could it possibly shorten lifespan?
It’s not a deformity. It’s 100% normal.

If you can convince my mom that’s it’s worth it then I’m all in lol. I been tryna get one for weeks now but my mom says that using the bucket is just as good, I don’t think she realizes how much I do and what this fish actually means to me. Tomorrow I’ll be looking for a tubing that at least reaches out my window so that way I can siphons it all outside and only have to carry the bucket back and forth while refilling the tank.
What do you mean convince your mom?

Well my flowerhorn always has been a bit different than others lol. He has a super slow reaction time too which is just hilarious especially sometimes during feeding when he gets confused on where the pellet went. Would rabbit snails or mystery snails be better for FH tank?
Honestly Malaysian trumpets are best. They have a similar shell to rabbits but are so small they stay off the flowerhorn’s radar.
Mystery or rabbit are likely to get eaten (and they aren’t cheap).

Whenever I’m feeling better I’ll get some Malaysian trumpets. I think I may have gotten something from a piece of catfish I didn’t cook long enough.

Or I also have a 4 inch Siamese algae eater in another tank, could I add him to my 55g? I don’t think they produce much waste plus would clean the algae from my glass also he has lots of small scales so I image it would work like armor a bit.

Never trust a flowerhorn. I wouldn’t risk it.

Daisy has colored up amazingly. I saw a flowerhorn of the opposite sea at a store the other day and it was black like a jack Dempsey but had marking the colors of a high grade red dragon FH. Didn’t buy it but thinking of going back sometime soon to buy it and grow out and recto pair it up with daisy. Not sure because I don’t really have space for that long term but could definitely work on something. Getting rid of the red devil also. Sorry for the dirty tank I’ve been in a bit of a pickle lately View attachment 1464492View attachment 1464493View attachment 1464494
