I think you’d have a similar situation as with a wolf or belly crawler. Fine for at least a few years.

There’s lots, what exactly are looking to get out a fish, cool looks, personality , mean, predatory , peaceful?

Possibly a belly crawler. I had one that maxed out at 8” and wasn’t very active. I would’ve probably been comfortable keeping mine in a 36 with lots of caves to explore due to the low activity, but you might have to do lots of WCs once it gets bigger
It would be similar to keeping a red wolf in a 36, not ideal but could work, at least for a while. A purple wolf might be a possibility as well.

Then I’d go with a purple wolf, you’re not gonna do much better than that in that tank unless you went with a pao type puffer. The wolf would be more active, but the puffer would be way more vicious

Yep and if he’s feeding live, the puffer would not be pleasant to watch eat
